Swine Health Contractor

Deadline to apply: March 17, 2023

Contract work, length of term will end on or by December 31, 2023. Pay based on applicant and experience. Further details will be provided during the interview process.

Work location: Headquartered in Elizabethtown, KY with in-state travel.

Reports to: The contractor will be expected to work independently, but under the direction of the KPP Executive Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Kentucky’s swine farmers to learn and understand current swine health programs (AgView, US SHIP, Secure Pork Supply Plans, etc.).

  • Enroll Kentucky swine farmers in current swine health programs.

  • Educate Kentucky pork industry partners on current swine health programs in relation to their businesses.

  • Assist in the creation and management of a Kentucky swine farmer database.

  • Assist in creating communication channels for farmers enrolled in swine health programs.

  • Creating monthly progress reports.

  • Creating a final progress report.

  • Other responsibilities and tasks related to swine health as needed.

Skills:

  • Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, etc.

  • Ability to use general office equipment. 

  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.

  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple schedules and timelines.

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills

  • A positive, driven, welcoming attitude.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to provide reliable personal transportation for in-state travel.

Experience:

  • Degree in animal science, livestock production/management, veterinary technology OR

  • Work experience related to animal health and/or management.

  • Experience working with livestock farmers.
